Western Days Festival
The Elgin Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors unanimously voted to cancel the Western Days Festival scheduled for June 23-27, 2020. “ As a 50 -year summer tradition for the community, it was a difficult decision to cancel and not reschedule. The decision was made from an abundance of caution for the safety of volunteers, guests, and vendors, as well as practicality” said, President Gena Carter. She added “ contracts for entertainment and marketing are confirmed months out and with the continued uncertainty of how the social gathering restrictions will be lifted the most responsible course of action is to cancel and not reschedule in 2020. This event has been a major fundraiser for the Chamber. The proceeds fund many community and business development programs, as well as supports local non-profit who benefited from the event. As challenging as this time is, we're committed to working through it all and coming back with a summer event bigger and better in 2021!”
